Location of Rachol Fort in Goa: South Goa
Where: Rachol, Salcette, Goa
Best Time to Visit: Any time of the year
How to Reach: One can reach the Rachol Fort by taking a ferry from Shiroda or by taking a bus from Margao.
About: Situated northeast to Margao in Salcette, South Goa, Rachol Fort is famous for the battles fought between Vijayanagar and Bijapur empires. Built completely out of laterite stones, the majestic fort has become a major tourist attraction of the city. Mostly in ruins, the old gate of arms and some sections of the wall and moat are all the tourists can see.
This ancient and historically significant fort is now little more than a ruin being reclaimed by nature. It is a nice historical place but nothing to do much at this place. We recommend to combine this visit with other places.
