Location of Baptist Church in Goa:  South Goa

Where:  Benaulim, Goa

Best Time to Visit:  Any time of the year

How to Reach Baptist Church in Goa:  Take a bus/cab from Margao or from Benaulim beach.

About: The church of St. John the Baptist was originally built near the shore and has been shifted to its present location on top of a hill known as Monte Benaulim in the year 1956. The church has one of the best constructed and most beautiful altars with a whitewash that charms everyone to visit the place once. The church is well known for the annual feast Sao Joao too. Celebrated on June 24th, Sao Joao is one festival which is as entertaining and pompous as the Carnival. It starts off as a Mass held at the church and then, the youth of Goa do something amazing; they drink and jump into wells and streams, while singing ‘Viva San Joao’.

This is a beautiful place, serene and peaceful too. Just being at this place makes you realize it. This church is located on a height and you get a glimpse of the surrounding place. The church is beautiful inside. Surely worth the visit if you are in the vicinity.

A brilliant example of a colonial religious structure that has been superbly maintained and restored under a restrained hand and eye. The marble flooring although not centuries old, lends itself well to the space, unlike a lot of modern day material on intrusions
