About: Fontainhas is the beautiful quite part of Panjim city. It has very old houses and amazing Portuguese architecture samples and families still stay there. Fontainhas and Sao Tome is a beautiful Latin Quarter located in Panaji on the banks of the Ourem Creek and named after the natural springs nearby. It was laid out on a piece of land acquired by a Goan in the 18th century who had made a fortune in Mozambique. The quarter is now recognised as a heritage site and is famous for its charming Portuguese style houses on the base of the Altinho hills.
It is right behind the famous Immaculate conception church . You can cover this part on foot. Please make sure your travel excitement does not disturb the neighborhood. Kindly respect the privacy of residents. You will see beautiful cafes , decked up balconies , flourished bogan velia and other plants. The balconies and entrances are so amazing and you will see old models of fans , windows adding incredibly to the overall old world charm . Every house is different in looks. You should be able to find a parking space for your car or bikes in neighbouring lanes. It’s best to walk this area on foot so you can observe well
