About: Houses of Goa Museum has a splendid collection of houses belonging to the Colonial era in Goa. The museum in itself is a brilliant piece of architecture and dons a ship-like structure. The museum was designed and built by Gerard de Cunha and houses furniture, home decor items, door & window frames, railings, ceramic tiles, etc. from the bygone era when Portuguese architecture became a part of the Goan lifestyle.
The Houses of Goa museum is found in the Salvador do Mundo (Savior of the World) village in Porvorim, away from the Mapusa highway.
It is a triangular multi level building that closely resembles a ship marooned on an island. It is a museum by a well-known local architect – Gerard da Cunha. His work illuminates Goan history in all its facets. A tour through this ship-shaped building is undoubtedly a voyage back in time.
