How to Reach:  Corjuem Fort is a fortress situated 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from the village of Aldona on the river island of Corjuem, Goa. Take a bus/cab from Mapusa bus stand or Bicholim bus stand to cover half an hour distance.

About: Standing the test of time, Corjuem Fort is an inland fort that was built in 1705 by the Portuguese and is located in Aldona village near River Mapusa in Goa. It is also known as Khojuem Fort locally and is one of the smaller forts in Goa. Being a relatively unexplored destination it has gained importance in recent times for the sweeping vistas that it offers. It is also among the only two forts to remain standing and relatively intact despite being surrounded by the Portuguese and Mughal rulers. Legend has it that the fort has been the site of many battles and has protected the town of Corjuem from various invasions. In its current Avatar, it is beautiful even in its ruins and tells tales of an era gone by.

Corjuem fort goes by the name of Forte de Corjuem as well. Only two island forts survived that are made of pitted laterite; one of them is Corjuem Fort. The only thing you are going to get from this beauty is immense peace. You’ll feel restful as you’ll walk by the fortress and enjoy the sight.
